This post contains more information about the disputes involving Mr. Young. The details herein are sourced from his BrokerCheck profile, a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority record examined on January 27, 2025.

Pending Disputes Stem from GWG Investments

Between 2024 and 2025, four parties of investors filed disputes involving Mr. Young. Among other things, the claims allege that he misrepresented and recommended unsuitable investments in GWG Holdings. They also include allegations that he failed to conduct due diligence on these investments, and that he “misled investors” about GWG. The disputes, which are still pending, seek more than $440,000 in alleged damages.

Settled Disputes Concerned REITs, BDCs

The above-described disputes are not the only ones in Mr. Young’s past. Between 2018 and 2023, three other parties of investors filed claims that his former member firms settled. These disputes included allegations of over-concentration, misrepresentation, and unsuitable recommendations. They stemmed from investments in REITs, BDCs, and other products. His former member firms settled the claims for a total of $76,000.

In Statement, Will Young Defends Against Allegations

The disclosure for one of the settled disputes features a “Broker Statement” regarding the allegations. The claim in question alleged that Mr. Young misrepresented unsuitable BDC and REIT investments, settling for $30,000. In the statement, he wrote that he “was not named a party in the arbitration” leading to the settlement, and that he participated in neither the payment nor the decision to settle.

“The claimant was a sophisticated investor who had a profitable account and complained about three investments out of many in their portfolio, two of which were profitable if held to date,” the statement asserts. “All investments were reviewed and approved by the firm and met all suitability requirements.”
