Shawn Weadock Involved in $1.6 Million Investor Dispute

Pending Dispute Alleges Negligence, Fraudulent Inducement

On October 17, 2024, an investor lodged a dispute involving Mr. Weadock. The claim alleges breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent inducement, negligence, and breach of contract. Additionally, it alleges the violation of FINRA Rule 2010. Stemming from a private equity investment, the dispute, which is pending, seeks $1,694,000 million in alleged damages.

Shawn Weadock Denies Allegations

As his BrokerCheck record reflects, Mr. Weadock issued a statement defending against the allegations in the above-described claim. In this “Broker Comment,” he asserts that the allegations are baseless and states that he will “vigorously fight” them. “I was not the broker for any of the transactions at issue,” he adds. “Moreover, the claimants’ allegations are directly contradicted by their written affirmations and the market performance of the investments at issue.”

According to Alexander Capital’s webpage, Mr. Weadock is a managing director at the firm. According to his professional biography in the page’s “About Us” section, he is seeking investment opportunities in early to late stage private equity companies across multiple sectors. The page also outlines the firm’s work with a varied clientele, including high net worth investors as well as investment bankers. “Over time, our team of well-known and respected Wall Street professionals and advisors have developed a niche investment market for our select, accredited clients,” the section reads. “We provide qualified clients access to well-managed and vetted Pre-IPO growth companies in their late-stage rounds of venture capital and the first round of their Pre-IPO investments.”

According to his BrokerCheck profile, Mr. Weadock launched his career as a broker in 1995. That year, he joined Barron Chase Securities, which has since been expelled by FINRA. Over the following years, he worked at a variety of firms. These include Wien Securities Corporation, Jefferies & Company, and National Securities Corporation. He joined Alexander Capital in 2016, and is still based at the firm’s branch office in Red Bank, New Jersey. With 28 years of experience as a broker, he has completed five industry exams, including the Series 7 and the Series 55.
