Sean Mostero Allegedly Had “Inappropriate Relationship” with Client

Sean Mostero (CRD# 6447158), formerly a broker registered with LPL Financial, allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a client, according to an investor dispute. Pending Dispute Seeks $350,000

In April 2024 an investor filed a dispute alleging that Mr. Mostero “engaged in an inappropriate relationship” with her. This claimant also alleges that he “failed to protect her from poor financial decisions” and breached his duties of care, trust, and fair dealing. Finally, the dispute alleges that he breached his duty to act in her best interest. The dispute, which is still pending, seeks $350,000 in damages.

Why Did FINRA Bar Sean Mostero?

FINRA initiated a disciplinary action against Mr. Mostero in April 2024, according to his BrokerCheck profile. The sanction stemmed from allegations that he “failed to respond to FINRA requests for information” pursuant to a FINRA rule requiring associated persons to respond to such requests, FINRA barred him from association with any FINRA member in all capacities.

Disciplinary Action Followed FINRA Investigation

FINRA’s disciplinary action against Mr. Mostero followed the launch of an investigation into his conduct disclosed in March 2024. According to his BrokerCheck profile, the investigation was “related to a customer’s complaint regarding account withdrawals.”

Alessandria Capital Fired Mostero

In February 2024, Alessandra Capital Management fired Mr. Mostero. As his BrokerCheck record reflects, his termination stemmed from allegations by the firm that he “abandoned his job.” As the firm disclosed, he “ceased coming to the office” and failed to cooperate with requests for information about his professional conduct.

FINRA: Former LPL Broker Was Based in Torrance, California

Sean Mostero launched his career as a broker in 2017. That was the year he joined First Allied Securities’ office in Torrance, California. Over the subsequent years, he went on to work with Cetera Advisors and later LPL Financial. He was registered with LPL’s office in Torrance from 2023 to 2024 and has not been registered with any broker-dealer firm since. With six years of experience as a broker, he has completed three industry exams and is currently barred from acting as a broker.
