Customers File Arbitration Involving Michael Ecker’s Recommendation of GPB Capital

GPB Complaint Against Ecker’s Former Firm, Concorde Investment Services
The most recently filed complaint against Mike Ecker concerns his conduct at Concorde Investment Services. In 2020 a customer alleged that Michael Ecker, while employed at Concorde Investment Services, Kovack Securities, and Center Street Securities, sold “unsuitable illiquid REITs and private placements.” The complaint alleges that these recommendations resulted in an over-concentrated portfolio and incurred losses. The complaint settled in 2021 for $23,000.
In 2019 a customer alleged that while employed at Concorde Investment Services and Kovack Securities, Michael Eckcer breached contract and committed fraud. The complaint further alleged that he breached his fiduciary duty and violated FINRA rules in connection to investments in REITs and GPB Capital private placements. The complaint settled for a total of $60,000.
In a statement regarding the above complaint, one of the firms said that Mr. Ecker “vehemently denies the allegations against him” and believed the investments to be suitable for the customer. He “intends to vigorously defend the claims against him and will seek such additional relief, including expungement of this matter from his CRD record, as may be appropriate,” the statement concludes.
