Rod Potratz (CRD# 2367896[1]), a broker registered with Osaic Wealth, recommended unsuitable investments, according to investor disputes. MDF Law is investigating the Clive, Iowa-based financial professional, who does business as Stonebridge Financial Advisors, for similar conduct. Please contact us if you have concerns about your investments.
For additional details about the investor disputes involving Mr. Potratz, read below. The information herein is based on a December 19, 2023 review of his Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) BrokerCheck record.
On November 12, 2023, an investor filed a dispute alleging that Mr. Potratz recommended unsuitable investments in mutual funds and a closed-end interval fund. The dispute, which remains pending, seeks damages exceeding $5,000.
The above-described pending dispute is not the only one in Mr. Potratz’s past. Between 2011 and 2019, two other parties of investors filed claims alleging that he recommended unsuitable investments, including alternative investments. His former member firms settled the disputes for a total of $155,000.
Mr. Potratz issued statements regarding the settled disputes in his past, according to his BrokerCheck profile. With regard to a 2019 dispute that settled for $125,000, he wrote that the client conducted “extensive personal diligence” and that the investments comprised “a very moderate portion” of their assets. With regard to a 2011 dispute that settled for $30,000, he wrote that he maintains “that this complaint was completely unfounded.”
As his BrokerCheck record reflects, Mr. Potratz does business as Stonebridge Financial Advisors. He is the President of the firm, according to its website[2]. The firm operates in 17 US states, it explains, offering securities and investment advisory services through Osaic Wealth. “Whether it’s helping to preserve your assets, investing for retirement or saving for your child’s college education,” the website explains, “Stonebridge Financial Advisors has the strategies to help you reach your financial destination.”
Rod Potratz started his career as a broker in 1993. That was the year he registered with The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, where he remained until 2000. Over the years since, he worked at firms including AXA Advisors, Diversified Financial Advisory Group, and FSC Securities Corporation. He joined his current member firm, Osaic Wealth, in November 2023. With 30 years of experiences as a broker, he is registered with his firm’s offices in Clive, Iowa and Laguna Beach, California.
