Rick Caiazzo: New Complaint Filed Against Former NJ Morgan Stanley Advisor

Publicly available records maintained by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA[1]) and accessed on October 18, 2021 indicate that former New Jersey-based Morgan Stanley broker/adviser Rick Caiazzo has received several resolved or pending investor disputes. Morgan Stanley Severs Ties with Lawrenceville, New Jersey Based Caiazzo

In December 2020, Mr. Caiazzo left Morgan Stanley after approximately ten years. Rick Caiazzo has 36 years of experience in the securities industry and was most recently registered with Morgan Stanley in Lawrenceville, New Jersey from 2010 until 2020. His previous registrations include UBS Financial Services in Princeton, New Jersey (1990-2010); Prudential-Bache Securities in New York, New York (1986-1990); Dean Witter Reynolds (1984-1986); and First Jersey Securities (1984). He has passed six securities industry examinations: Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination), obtained on January 29, 1992; Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination), obtained on May 21, 1984; SIE (Securities Industry Essentials Examination), obtained on October 1, 2018; Series 31 (Futures Managed Funds Examination), obtained on October 29, 2002; Series 7 (General Securities Representative Examination), obtained on January 21, 1984; and Series 24 (General Securities Principal Examination), obtained on February 10, 1997. He currently holds no state securities licenses.

Rick Caiazzo Had a History of Complaints

According to his BrokerCheck report[2], he has received five settled customer complaints, one pending customer complaint, and three customer complaints that were denied.

In August 2021 a customer alleged that Rick Caiazzo, while employed at UBS Financial Services, executed unauthorized trades from 1999 until 2002. The customer is seeking $170,000 in damages in the pending complaint.

In 2012 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS, Rick Caiazzo misrepresented a structured products investment. The customer sought damages exceeding $5,000 in the complaint, which was denied by the firm.

In 2011 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS Financial Services, Rick Caiazzo misrepresented an investment as principal-protected. The complaint settled for more than $4,000.

In 2011 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS Financial Services, he represented an investment’s principal as “guaranteed regardless of market conditions.” The complaint settled for $40,000.

In 2011 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS Financial Services, he misrepresented investments in structured products as “safe and guaranteed.” The complaint settled in 2013 for $105,000.

In 2011 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS Financial Services, he recommended unsuitable investments in structured products. The complaint settled for $85,560.

In 2008 a customer alleged that while employed at UBS Financial Services, he omitted the risks of an investment in auction rate securities. The complaint settled for $75,000.
