To learn more about the allegations against Mr. Blaszyk, continue reading this post. The information below derives from his BrokerCheck profile, a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) record accessed on December 20, 2023.
On November 20, 2023, an investor lodged a dispute against Mr. Blaszyk. Filed with FINRA, the dispute alleges that he made unsuitable investment recommendations involving “miscellaneous” products. The claim, which remains pending, seeks $400,000 in damages.
The above-describe pending dispute is not the only one in Mr. Blaszyk’s past. On February 20, 2019, another investor filed a dispute alleging that he misrepresented mutual fund investments. More specifically, the claimant alleged that he said the investments “were guaranteed a fixed rate of return” and that the principal was not at risk. In addition, the allegations described “undisclosed and excessive sales charges” stemming from the investment. Later that year, his member firm settled the dispute for $4,000.
Mr. Blaszyk issued a “Broker Comment” regarding the above-described settled dispute. In this statement, he wrote that the customer received proper advice “as to her investments and was provided with numerous opportunities to either sell or cancel trades at no loss.” He described the settlement as a business decision by the firm, adding that he “did not contribute” to it.
James Blaszyk started his career as a broker in 2007. That year, he joined Ameriprise Financial Services’ office in Miami, Florida. Later that year, he left Ameriprise for Wells Fargo Clearing Services’ office in Boynton Beach, Florida. He has remained at Wells Fargo since, according to his BrokerCheck profile. With 15 years of experience as a broker, he has completed one state securities law exam and two general industry/products exams.
