This post contains additional information about the disputes involving Mr. Thacker. The information below is sourced from his BrokerCheck profile, a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority record examined on January 21, 2025.
Between 2023 and 2024, 19 parties of investors lodged disputes involving Mr. Thacker. Of these disputes, one was settled by his former member firm and 18 are still pending. All 19 disputes allege that he recommended unsuitable investments. His former firm settled one of them for $7,500. The pending disputes seek more than $3 million in alleged damages.
Mr. Thacker issued similar statements denying the allegations in many of the pending disputes. “I was neither the broker nor the direct supervisor for the activities at issue,” he wrote, asserting that he was named in the claims based on his position at his former firm. “I deny all the claims against me as they are false,” he concluded, “and I will be seeking expungement of this complaint from my license.”
As for the dispute settled by his former firm, Mr. Thacker issued a similar statement. According to his BrokerCheck profile, he wrote that he was “neither the broker nor the direct supervisor for the activities at issue.” Again, he asserted that he was named in the claim as a result of his former position. The statement concludes with his denial of the complaint and describes his intention to seek its expungement from his license.
As his BrokerCheck record reflects, Mr. Thacker did business under the brand Thacker and Associates. An archived version[2] of the firm’s website outlines its mission to help customers create retirement strategies. Its services included alternative investments, annuities, and social security, according to the website. “At Thacker & Associates, we don’t believe in a ‘cookie-cutter’ approach,” the page reads. “No two situations are alike. We tailor your financial strategies to assist you in achieving your specific lifetime goals and objectives.”
Jack Thacker launched his career as a broker in 1996, according to his BrokerCheck profile. That year, he joined John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company’s office in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the following years, he worked at a variety of firms, including Kalos Capital, Center Street Securities, and Realta Equities. Though he departed Realta Equities in 2024, he is still an investment adviser at Realta Investment Advisors in Bristol, Virginia. With 28 years of experience as a broker, he has completed 11 industry exams, including the Series 14 and the Series 7.
